I cant get any sound out of my speakers. Ive tried other speakers and get nothing. Ive done system restore and still no sound. I'm really trying to avoid going back to factory settings.Any ideas?

Well, it always helps to get some history as to what happened, and some details about your hardware and software? Did it ever work? Also, do you have a separate sound cards or a motherboard integrated sound system? [img]/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif[/img] -

A few tips:
1) Make sure the cable is plugged in and in the right slot.
2) Check your system sounds properties to see if somehow it got put on 'mute'.
3) Check the device manager to see if your sound card (or any) are listed (and don't show any errors on the device).
Other than that post more info and include what OS you are using.

Hi Reby, Ive done all those checks and still no sound. My voice is picked up by the mic. but no sound. The Driver is..NVIDIA(R)nForce(TM)Audio and im using XP.Comment

Well it did work. Ive had this PC for near on 5 years and have had little go wrong. The only thing I can link it to is my dowloading BearShare quite recently. Im imagining that a music file has corrupted it. I dont think I have a seperate sound card and am not sure what a motherboard is!Comment
