Netscape 8.1

Just downloaded Netscape 8.1 and I find it pretty cool.

One thing I find annoying though is that it has a default profile as well as you can setup individual profiles. A default profile icon appears whenever you click on the Netscape icon. What do I need to do to prevent this icon from appearing.

All I want to happen is for me to click on the netscape icon and go directly to my default homepage without having to click on a profile icon. I have tried all the options listed under tools, and I didn't see anything to remove it.

It has been a while since I have used a native Netscape named browser. However if I remember correctly, you can go under Tools > Switch Profile. You should see the profile manager pop up. There should be a check box that says, " dont ask at startup". You want to un-check that box.

OR
If you have two profiles in the profile manager it makes you choose. If there's only one you should go directly there.
When the profile manager comes up, highlight the name you want to delete and delete it (and all associated files). If you only created one profile then Netscape will open directly and the profile manager should not come up on your screen again when you click on the startup icon.


OR

If the profile manager don't come up then you will need to use the "-P" or "-P profilename" switch after netscape EXE startup file, at the command line prompt to run the profile manager.


Substitute the the name of your profile in place of profilename.
If your profile name contains a space, you will have to put your entire profile name in quotes.

For example: -P "profile name"
