LAN problem

A few months ago I had a Belkin router attached to my computer, with a wireless connection setup (on my niece's computer).It worked fine. I even connected my company laptop to it with no problems (wirelessly) [img]/forums/images/graemlins/70409-waytogo.gif[/img]

However, over the past two weeks my niece's wireless connection doesn't work. Something to do with IP address problem and over the weekend I had a problem with DNS on mine. Fortunately I've reconnected my USB modem so I'm still online [img]/forums/images/graemlins/70371-jump.gif[/img]

I'm sure I've done something wrong but have no idea what [img]/forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif[/img] Any idiot-proof suggestions? Please note I didn't do the original installation so if there were any disks involved with the setup I haven't got them [img]/forums/images/graemlins/70367-help.gif[/img] [img]/forums/images/graemlins/70367-help.gif[/img]

I assume that you have DSL? Dont leave your phone off the hook for any extended period of time without a dial-tone. Check to make sure all yout connections to the modem, router and PC are sequenced correctly (re-check your manual).

Disconnect the router (plug it out) from the modem and the power socket.

Re-start the modem (plug it out from AC for 10 minutes).

When modem stabilize after you plug it back in, hook the router back to it and turn it back on. Make sure you follow the exact sequence that I gave you above.

I followed your instructions and my system is running perfectly. However I told ND that her computer isn't working properly and I've got the engineer coming round this week [img]/forums/images/graemlins/70390-shhh.gif[/img]

School holidays start Wednesday and I don't want her thinking she'll be able to live on it in the evenings unsupervised "like my friends" [img]/forums/images/graemlins/70388-shameonyou.gif[/img] [img]/forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif[/img]
