Seems you're vulnerable to spam programs. You can download ZoneAlarm which is a free firewall. Since I've been using it I haven't had any of those type of issues. Also,maybe use firefox instead of internet explorer.

...I pick up more spyware on this site than anyplace, to the point that the pages won't load after 20 minutes on here. (I have an old computer with dial up)...AAAArrrrg.

This rool will tell you what rating a website have when you visit it and what ratings externals sites have that links to the site you're browsing - IE/FF compatible. McAfee SiteAdvisor
JA.com does attract a lot of syware and adware and unless you have a very good anti-virus/adware/spyware/firewall that tells you what is going on, you're already being affected without knowing it.
