How you two doing? Dont know if I have ever posted in your forum...but thought you might be able to answer a question I have...or someone passing thru might.

Is there a way for "someone" to tell if the Bakra has put any kind of spyware on their network that can tell them "who" does "what" online?

IN other words...how can I tell if my boss is spying on me? I have full access to the server and all our IT equipment....but dont know what I would look for. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif[/img]

You could check the process list and see what's running in the background. You may be able to spot it if you know how to lookup each item in the process list. They could also be just parsing the server logs to see what ppl are doing but that would be harder for you to find out. You could also try the spyware and malware scanners and see if it picks up anything, but I kinda doubt they would find anything (usually these types of employee monitoring programs are full stealth but not always).

When in doubt use your personal computer for anything private/sensitive.

If you're not tech savvy enough to know what to look for, chances are good you won't be able to tell. Bear in mind t he principle however that the company equipment belongs to the company, and as such they are within their right to 'investigate' internet surfing as well as to read emails.

As Reby suggested, if you're concerned about it, use a home PC for anything personal or confidential.

Well its not so much the Personal and Confidential nature of anything that I am concerned about. ITs just the "time" I spend here that I dont want to bite me in the butt.

Hi all,
Ochi...at my company they monitor everything. How long you are on a particular site...which site...and they go as far as printing out reports to categorize each site....and more and more sites are being blocked. You know I'm bad as far as that.....thank God I work for the Chairman....

As far as I know and I could be wrong about this....IT can trace whatever you are doing on the computer...period.

Just depends on how strict your policies are. Ok...just a non techie's perspective.

Well Swedish...thanks. We however are a very small company and dont even have an IT department The administrator and I ARE the IT department. WE have a company that we contract with to handle our hardware issues.

I am sure you know that they can also log onto your PC remotely and look at your system configuration, as well as, take control of it.

They can check the process files, but you are the IT department so I dont think you have anything to worry about.
