Camera Recommendations

Ok so GirlKia sneak de digital camera into the sandbox fi tek pickcha of her castle as well as the dog helping to build the castle \o/ Sooo the lens is scratched, the zoom doan work and it basically BRUK! It is/was a Nikon Coolpix 4800 wid 4.0 MegaPixels and 8.3x zoom..

What is new & good out there to do the job that needs to be done?

Kia, sorry I can't help you out in the digital camera department. Just wanted to share your pain. Same thing happened to me a long while back. I also learned the hard way that sand is a cameras worst enemy. I feel for ya! [img]/forums/images/graemlins/70394-bawlout.gif[/img]

It looks like it serves you good.. Have you had it a while? When I googled it, it came up with many reviews but not places to buy it new. Isnt Sony the company that has the proprietary memory sticks that can not be used with other camera brands?

thanks for sharing will go check the reviews..

It seems that I would want 5 megapixels, zoom, the ability to take fast multiple shots, and the occasional short video to send via email. I like the smaller cameras so it can fit in the bag without much as well.

There are a lot of photo people out there.. where are you?

I recently got a Canon Powershot S3 IS 6.0 megapixels camera. It's features include 12x optical zoom lens, optical image stabilizer, 2.0 LCD, 30fps vga movies w/stereo sound and photo-in-movie, 20 shooting modes. It has an excellent AF/AE for fast, precise results and 2.3 fps continuous shooting performance.

I am from old school...had an old Canon SLR. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/70377-loveeyes.gif[/img] that thing...Won a couple of amateur photo awards with it. Used it when I worked on my college paper too. I never made the transition to digital with normal people, I am just trying to catch up. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/70361-embarassed.gif[/img]
Got the picture taking OK...its the emailing and posting thing that has me licked at the moment. [img]/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif[/img]

I dont think that is the case. However I did move up to a one gig card that plugs right into my computer... Im not sure why you would want your card to work in other cameras?

Ive had it a year, and got it when it first came out and cost the most it ever did... lol. I like it. A tripods is a good buy too if you want sharp photos.

I have an SD card in the existing digital camera and think it would be easier to not have to change to a new type of card so I can reuse the SD card as needed.
