dem really work & are they useful?
is there an additional fee required. Will they work outside of the US (say Canada)?

If this is the case then it may make car GPS's near obsolete as many people who have cars generally have cell phones no?

Kia, di cell phone wan dem may bi good if yuh walking or riding a bike, however not as good in a car, unless yuh can mount it near di windshield or plug an external satellite reciever to it. Post a pic ah the model phone whe yuh ah talk bout mek mi si it.

good point...the cell phone would need to pick up a signal for the gps to work ?

my mind just flashed on the cnet editor who died in the wilderness because he couldn't get a signal on his phone to get in touch with anyone [img]/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif[/img]

That was so ironic, because mi know who Kim was, liked listening to him and watched him on both C-net and TechTV for a long time. Hey was their Technical Specialist. He would have faired better wit satellite equipment as opposed to a regular cell phone. All you need is a clear view of the sky with most satellite equipment, unlike regular cell that requires a cell phone tower that is in range. If he had a satellite phone he woumd have most likely faired better.

Kia, mi si whe it sey "Download VZ Navigator for directions, points of interest, and maps" but mi caa find whe it sey GPS. Although, all phones dem days have the tracking function built in, soh dem can turn it on to find yuh via cell tower if dem need to.

Well, him may not have know how fi survive out inna nature and also may not have been properly dressed. After ah whime the cold may have made him become disoriented, den him freeze to death.

Mi sure dat some cell phone have it as a consumer feature. It should be quite easy to implement on phones, after all, hand-held GPS units have been around for decades. I just am not familiar with the models that have that GPS feature turned all the time.

LB signed on for a free 2 week trial on her verizon thing...we used it the other day and it was right on with everything...voice directions and all, out in the country...I couldn't believe it! Just as we hit our driveway it said "you have reached your destination"...and it gave m.p.h., elevation...minutes till arrival, and automatically ordered ahead for pizza to pick up as we passed thru Granite Falls...ok...I lied about the last part. is it a subscription thing Turtledude? and how effective was it (as in did it quickly give out the directions to turn b4 u turned, and how quickly did it recalculate the directions if you missed the turns)?
