The new processors has two seperate ingines instead of the usual one. That makes it core duo,and the core 2 duo is really two seperate processors with two engines each
So the core 2 duo is the more advanced and then the 4200,5500 and 7200 has to do with the speed of the processors,but the new dispensation race them different. It is not about megnaherts/gigaheatz any more it is calculation speed.

which processors of AMD are equivalent to the Core 2's

To be honest, nothing out there at this present time if faster or as efficient. The closest AMD has to it the Athlon FX-62, and the new Intel chip outperforms it by about 20%.

Benchmark measurement differences are hardly noticable to the end-user. I have been buying AMD for a while now and am pretty happy with overall performance.

I Concur. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70409-waytogo.gif[/img] I too use AMD many times over Intel, but some people like to know the latest and greatest in technology so that they can make an informed choice. Like you I assess my true needs and base my decision on that fact, as opposed to emotional gratification which can be short lived, since technology keeps changing so quickly.
