Yesterday I woke up to a dead monitor. The thing will not show that it is plugged in. It is an older 21 inch LG monitor and I have been salivating a new one so I went out last night and bought a pretty Samsung 24 inch monitor. I also bought a new wireless keyboard and mouse.
So, I plugged in the monitor, and was about to set up the keyboard, and turned the computer on. The monitor read the keyboard was not found, I expected that. as I didn't plug in the connection thingie at that point.
I did that, then turned the computer on again. All monitor connections are secure, but the monitor is now showing "check signal cable" message that goes across the screen like a screen saver...
Well, I checked and even changed it out, same answer.
Could the plug in for my monitor on my computer be bad? If so, is that expensive? I was not having any computer problems before this all started, just the dead monitor.
Help help...I am about to run the computer to repair, but what can I do here first?
I do not have another monitor to plug in, I see no access point on my laptop.

) My LG monitor just didn't turn on yesterday morning out of nowhere, I was using it hours before and it was fine.
it was 5 or so years old and a little 21 inch thing and I figured it would be costlier to fix than it's worth.
Back home to get the monitor and exchange it, but they didn't have another of the Samsung model (of course). On the way back to town I noticed one corner of the box was a bit crinkled. It's a pretty strong box so it probably had a hard hit to get crinkled like that..I wish I had noticed it last night!
