mac or pc

friend of mine

uses computer for internet, gmail, storing pics and using her ipod for music

current computer has hard drive crash..(virus related ) per the best buy geeks they put the hard drive on multiple machines and could not access the data

she asked me what to get
am thinking for cost purposes she should get a desktop pc and pay good money for antivirus

any suggestions?

Honestly, for what the intended purpose of this computer is, a pc should be fine.

The prices are so cheap now it's crazy.

PC

I work from home as often as possible and pc has had it on lockdown for years. Only people in our art dept use macs.

My dad keeps a virus. I have never had one. Don't download everything in creation and she should be fine.

Hard drives fail, especially if the machine is a few years old. Dem also fail if you trip over the cord of dem usb external drive. Dem also fail if the stupid external drive drop over pon de desk. Internal drives like laptop drives or desktop drives usually fail due to heat. If the drive itself is good, you can low level format the drive in most cases. After listening to some of these first level 'techs' it aggravate me to no end to hear the BS a spew. Mi jus curious how dem know seh a virus and dem can't even access de drive? :scratch head:

By the way I have the same dilemma.
I replaced my laptop with the ipad, and my
old PC is getting on my nerves now need fi change.

I'm being tempted by the mac, since I like how di
ipan and iphone a flex. Fraid fi learn di new sintin still.

Magix, I use a PC at home and a Mac at work.

Truss mi, it will take you only a minute or two to feel right at home on a Mac.

I am agreeing with you.. if it was anyone else I would suggest get a mac

best buy put the hard drive on multiple machines to try &amp; start it. It was she who assumed virus as opposed to hard drive failure.

She bought the $179 desktop today.. and now found out she needs a new keyboard because it noh come with the old time keyboard connector

One of the tings that keep me from Mac is that certain tings are not Mac compatible.
Also my employer malice Mac and I would constantly run into problem when bidding for vacation, monthly rosters or checking load on flights. So I would need a pc laptop for that.
