Some of us who are old enough might remember the old days, Parents or Grandparents killing live chickens for dinner. We might also remember how the chickens might escape their grasp and run around even with no head.
I've now associated that memory with the corporate mentality when people don't think.
Scenario: Customer is having an issue. No problem there. The fix takes a mainframe load. No problem there either. Load has been scheduled for next week. Customer is griping problem is taking too long to fix. Account manager rightfully 'escalates' to the world copying many worldwide directors etc via email. I respond tactfully that the problem is being handled and provide the proper ticket numbers instead of an old resolved ticket from many months ago. Account manager then decides to email the programming team manager directly. Programming team manager responds to the account manager, with a hilarious question...
Did you read the ticket?
(The ticket clearly stated when the load was to be done.)
Anybody else deal with Chicken Syndrome on a daily basis? Fools running around like chickens with their heads cut off?
