So mi get fed up an tek it tuh a bredren dung de road an him tek out some malware an tings inna it. But as soon as he plugged it in and plug his mouse in de ting stawt loading drivers fi de mouse. If it happens again maybe I'll just plug it in somewhere else and see if dat works. I wonder if the plug retains a memory like batteries.

Thanks for the update. We would eventually be getting the part where we check malware. Sometimes the malware over-writes known good windows files, so those bad files run when you try to do something on your computer. This is a good example. It is also possible that when you tried to download drivers on your pc, it was going to the malware server first, instead of to Logitech. Occasionally when you have redirects like that, it causes issues. There are so many possibilities.

The reason I was asking about the frequency. If you have a wireless mouse, and a wireless router, on the same frequency, there are some days where the interference is really bad and other days where there is none at all. Theoretically, the two systems are supposed (keyword) to switch channels automatically. Those of us who have been around computers long enough know that it works great in the lab, but in the real world...

Yes, using another computer is one way to test, but it's not fool proof. It just changes the flow of the troubleshooting, that's all. There are days you'll come right back to that second computer scratching your head.

The last thing to remember is always do a screen capture or write down the name of the malware that was found, even if that name may be incorrect. Some of these things like to re-generate and are a RPITA to remove properly. The only way you know that they are coming back is to have the log history kept on the computer. Some programs are setup to delete the logs after 30 days or they are not setup to keep logs.
