First Insurance Claim

so me and my garage had a little encounter the other day cause it had snowed badly and my neighbor's stupid garage cover was in the way........

I figured I would just get the work done on my own cause it wouldnt warrant submitting an insurance claim and shegging up my rating.

Well, I got the estimate today to fix my side passenger door and bumper



6 THOUSAND DOLLARS




So, I have to make my first ever insurance claim in 20 plus years of driving

dont even start with me

The adjuster just called and I have to report it to the police because it is technically a collision

And I need to talk to my neighbor about their damaged garbage thingy so that it cost of that is covered as well.

Plus, I need to check if there is any damage to the garage itself......so technically I have run into some other things along the way now and I am sure the bill will be over 10K.

Not that I was trying to be funny but when I explained the story to the adjuster, but she just laughed and laughed and laughed.

I meant to say garbage cover

they have a wooden structure that hides their garbage cans so it looks a little pretty on the street corner.

It seems like I have a very good adjuster, so this isnt as painful as everyone made me feel it was gonna be

good thing is my neighbor could care less about replacing his garbage cover

but apparently I still need to do a police report

This is my first claim ever so I hope my rate isnt affected but some how I doubt it

we had to switch carriers recently after my claim the other day on the ring...the rate stayed the same til the end of the policy and at renewal the total cost of coverage went up roughly 20% .. we switched and now we are happy with the rate

I'll just have to wait until September to see what happens.

No, actually this does go thru my auto claim since it is with my car I hit all these objects

i only will use my home insurance if I need to get the garage itself fixed.

Di whole ah dem insurance people are nuttin but ah bunch ah thieves. Dem tink people inna di charity business, til yuh try fi mek ah claim, den dem soak yuh going or coming, if dem noh end up cancelling di policy fi mek too much claims or dem tink dem pay out too much..........long kissteeth!,

That is why I was so distressed yesterday when the estimator said I needed to go thru the insurance company. Everyone was scaring me with &quot;ohmigod, your premiums are gonna go thru the roof, etc&quot;


but a 6K is just too steep to come out of my pocket to avoid the insurance company.

I like I said earlier, this is my first ever claim and my rate is quite low, so I didnt want to lose my preferred status cause you know they wont take into consideration the fact that is is my first claim in 20 plus years.

It looks like the entire door needs to be replaced. A paint job will not do.
