nah dud that's not a Smart, they're twice the size of them things! and that ain't sayin much!! so ppl who feel the Smart is already too tiny couldn't bother with that smileyface tinkertoy. i'm all for energy efficiency and i do LOVE the Smart, i think its adorable and comes in gorgeous colors - but them subcompacts are too small and flimsy for me too. i gotta feel safe on the highway. not to mention i gotta have some kinda utility space.

been tryna post pics but cannot figure out how to get my own ones to upload, so one from the net will haf to do. this is the exact one i got! glad i waited, the new ones are less fugly than the old boxes and have a lot more utility room in the back.

I think the concept of personal vehicles is wasteful. Better a car built for at least four or just public passenger vehicles.

that's one of the old ones tho, i mostly wanted to post the new one for Xavier to see, since he has a scion too!

and good point, if each person had only a car for themself it only adds to the number of vehicles on the roads.... &amp; thereby defeats the whole purpose of so-called 'green' vehicles &amp; energy efficiency

Just look at China and Electric Bike and you see the size and scope of the problems, especially when you think of the disposal of plastic and battery related junk.

really. if you're gonna go that way, might as well ride a bike or catch bus. if is just for one person to get around town is pretty useless (and selfish, IMO). cause u would still haf to have a next larger vehicle for shopping, kids, family, etc. again defeating the purpose AND using more resources (car battery, metal, plastic) as well as contaminating the atmosphere even further -

At the time when they are increasing the strength and design of passenger compartments of regular cars, they are allowing these shoeboixes, to be adopted as transport. Are the lives of the furure operators of thes cars not as valuable as those of other cars?

i would never buy one for my transport. For a kid yes,but It looks too lowstrung for a van.
A easy work around to post pics from your computer is to send the pic to the jamaicans .com picture gallery. then you can link from it to the BB.
this is because if the picture is on the same server, as long as it is not password protected, you can link to it.

is not intended to be a van Dr Dudd, altho i often think it does look like a miniature version of one. way better gas mileage than a van too. and in any case i dint buy it for the looks, in fact i thought the older version was butt ugly, this one only a little less so (i call it my Blue Beluga cause of the flat front nose) what i <span style="font-style: italic">did</span> get it for, is practicality, safety, utility space, and inexpensive cost. and bonus! these new ones are much less fugly to me so i don't even mind the looks now!

and yes they are specifically marketed for young people, that's prezackly why i love it - has only a few bells &amp; whistles, but the ones it does have come standard, so no additional cost -- i.e. a <span style="font-style: italic"><span style="font-weight: bold">kickazz</span></span> stereo with iPod hookup, full airbags, anti-lock brakes with stability control (which costs extra on any other Toyota), and huMUNGous amount of utility space. Sturdy construction, solid metal body (no fiberglass) and has the exact same engine as the Camry - but at half the sticker price, <span style="font-style: italic">and</span> with more safety features as standard; which are additional on other Toyotas. plus i can still carry pretty much the entire band instruments and equipment in the back, which was critical for me in order to be able to give up my beloved pickup truck. or i can fold the back up into 2 passenger seats, so can carry 4 people in it as a regular car.

See it suits you, I remember the days, wheni use to carry third world inmy VW van. today i don't know how it all hel init,but that is youth.
All i need today is a car that is capable of taking my different med bags and my laptop,and me ofcourse. But is has to be able to take hits and ai walk away too. incidentally i got a head on on icy roads during the winter.
involved abouy 6 or 7 vehicles. walked away with one simple facture.
That is what buy expensive cars for. They have to save me from the crazies. No scion, for me.
I ordered on of the 2010 Prius for my daughter. I don't even see it yet but she is changing her car after 2 years.
That is ut with youth too, t
get tired of a 2 year old car. Me i kind of get rid of them whe they are nearly dead.
Or they get invilved in headons.

me too, keep cars for a long time and use them well - i can't get with that disposable mentality, changing cars evry 2 years. talk about wasteful and selfish..... that's why i'm a Toyota woman, the truck was 19 years old and 193,000 miles before i was willing to even consider givin it up. i would have replaced it exactly if i coulda afforded it, but not to the tune of 30-grand. no way, that just wasn't possible

so this one better be as good as the Toyota quality of old, cause i intend to keep it for many years too -

I don't think I would trust a car for that long. In that I use to race cars and know that the engines really wears out.
One thing I have always done is to use exclusively synthetic oil in my engines. After 9 years the car engine sounded same as the dat I bought it. And runs cool too even after a couple hundred mil trips.
did i tell That i kind of drive fast too??
Only on the interstate though.
I have grown beyond the stage of worrying about price. You will too in a few years. as a matter of fact the orices i use to resist seem so trivial these days.
I get it back on my trade-ins though.
