Soooo.... I decided it's time to move up from my 1994 Pontiac Bonneville SE. She has served me well the past 3 years.
Anyway, the shopping has begun. I have between $5000 - $7000 to work with, but really want to keep it closer to $5000.
I've looked online at Vehix & Edmunds to get an idea of going prices, took a peek at Consumer Reports...
Last night I took a spin in the first car that I took a serious shine to.
It's a 2000 Nissan Maxima. It's got $144,220 for mileage. Looks beautiful. Automatic. 3 litre/6cy. Runs smooth, quite, tight. No odd noises, no rattles. Great pick-up. Brakes nicely, no pulling.
It's got power everything and a Bose stereo system. No dents, no big scratches. A minor scuff on the rear bumper.
He's got it on the lot for $5775. I ws told he'd come down to $4900, but I think I can get it for $4500.
Kelly Blue Book lists it for $5500 in Good condition as a private party sale; $7775 at retail sale. I'd call it better than good, but not sure I'd go as far as excellent. So I know it's not priced higher than book value.
Consumer Reports lists the Maxima under "Best of the Best" used cars.
The high mileage concerns me to a point as well as the cost of repairs/maintenance.
It is a SWEET ride. And I want it badly!!

Any opinions would be greatly appreciated.
