<span style="color: #3333FF">So I was in an accident last month. My faithful Camry that I have owned for almost seven years and put 140K miles on was injured in the accident.
Fortunately the other driver was at fault and had decent insurance. They had me go to one of their body shops for an estimate but I didn't leave the car with them because I wanted to get more than one estimate. The guy did the estimate and told me that since I wasn't leaving it with them, the insurance company would be sending me the payment to have it fixed.
After not hearing anything for a week or so, I called the insurance company and they told me that they had written my car off as a loss and would be paying me for the value of my car.
Then he named some ridiculous amount that I would never be able to replace my car for.
I told the man that he can't take my car and he said I could keep the car but they would minus a salvage fee of $1,000. Leaving not only not enough to replace my car, but not enough to have it fixed, either.

To add insult to injury, I got a mailing from the insurance company inviting me to switch to their insurance.
