The battery for thatcar is actually [b]in the right fender,just behind the right headlight.
But tell me this, what make you think that you could use the battery, without running the car while you are usimg it?
That is a sure way to end up in the position you are in. So what do you wasnt to do? Charge the battery?. So today before I could mow I had to air up a couple of tires on my lawn tractor with my car air pump. To use the car air pump I have to turn on the ignition to start the cigarette lighter unit. See where I'm going here with this...

That was about 5 hours ago. Now, I was just running out a road but WHOOPS! I see I forgot my key in the On position and now my battery is dead.

OK, so I'm no dummy, I run and fetch my small battery charger that I keep around just for occasions like this.

I open my hood, and much to my dismay, there is no battery in sight!

Off to one side are the two terminals but the positive one I can't for the life of me figure out how to attach the small charger clamp to the cable. There's a big red cover, which I did remove but still not really clear what to do.

My how I miss the practically horse and buggy days when I used to be able to do my own tune ups and a whole lot of other things.

PS..it's an 04 Intrepid...

Space vehicle is right! I was looking through my manual and it seemes I can access the battery by removing the air cleaner and turning the wheels to the right but I'm hoping not to have to do that.

All I wanted to do is hook up my charger to the battery terminals!

Well it's a new battery so I'm hoping it'll charge by itself overnight so I'll wait till morning before i do anything about it. Even attaching jumper cables to this set up looks tricky.

Yeah, I use the ciggie lighter operated air pump a lot on my lawn tractor tires. Even when I put tubes in my tires the pickers I run over in my farmyard go through and eventually poke and cause a leak. It's a regular thing but this is the first time I have forgotten to turn the key back off when I'm finished airing the tires! My old Intrepid...the ciggie lighter would work without having to have the key on, but not this one!

</div></div> Check you book again gefore you do that, It will direct you to hook on th epositive terminal of you rbattery. Noever on th enegativeterminal of the weak battery. So you rais to your plastic cover on th epositive terminal and hook to that. Then hook th eother cabke to a solid metal part on th eengine. Otherwise. it may damage your electrinics, and will not charge fast enough.

Thanks...I did have a nice little sparkle plenty when I tried to hook to the terminal end and hopefully I didn't hurt anything. It's a stupid set up having to turn your ignition on to run the cigarette lighter! Hopefully I didn't cause myself some stupid repair bill dammit. I'm planning on paying for my BB King tickets tomorrow so I don't need this crap...grrrr.

Yaay it's running! I ended up having to call a tow truck to jump it though as my little battery charger couldn't make a good connection on the stupid way they have the battery cables set up. Thankfully, it only set me back 25 bucks for the jump so all is well again in my world...

Iwould check that battery to see if it may not be ready to replace. It i susually cheaper in the summer, than in the winter. Not to mention the inconvenience of wking up to a dead battery.

Hopefully it will be OK since the battery is new. It's running now and I'll be driving it about 20 miles in a few minutes before I shut it off. yes it was inconvenient and threw a monkey wrench in my morning. Not to mention I woke at 3am worrying about it and had to fight for some time to fall back to sleep!

All in all, what matters is it's running now and I learned to remember to shut the key off!
