Oh the noise, the noise! Heater stuck wide open

The inside of my car sounds like a jet taking off! The heater fan is stuck wide open and I can't even shut the freeking thing off.

To compensate for the noise of the heater fan, I crank the tunes LOUDER.

This works well until I glance down at the speedometer.



I stopped by my mechanics place today and it could be resistor or something else I forget so at least I have a ball park figure of 150.00 to 200.00. That is probably a lot cheaper than the speeding ticket I would get for having the tunes cranked on high!

Too bad I'm so flippin busy right now I can't take the few hours stop during a day to get it done so pray for me I don't get a speeding ticket in the meantime.

On the upside...it got stuck on HIGH instead of OFF, it's been -29F. There was a worse scenario!

Is dis ah manual A/C-Heater switch or the electronic version?

Depending on di kind of system, di problem could one of 3 locations.

However di most likely place is the high power blower speed resistor, if it was designed in di old style.

Marnin JKid! Yeah, resistor was one scenario. I just wish I had time this week to address the problem but I'll be listening to the blower for the next whole week. It is noisy bad.

I can still control the temp so it isn't like I'm baking and having to roll down windows unless I want to let some outside quiet in. The whole heater/blower thing is stuck running though, can't even turn it OFF.

One good thing, next week I won't have to drive the car much except to the mechanic.

I'm driving about 140-160 miles a day right now so I really don't have time to sit around for a few hours while this gets fixed. However, the sound of the fan on full blast is nerve wracking at best.

My solution for now is to wear ear plugs!

They close off the fan noise and I can still hear the chunes.

My elevator repair man friend said maybe he'd have time to fix it next weekend, we'll see...otherwise by next week I will be able to take the time for fixing.

I was just tryin to give you a laugh JKid but to tell ya the truth, it works great! I can still actually hear the fan a little, but the music isn't blaring anymore so I ain't tempted to speed. Especially on the ice roads I have been driving on after an ice storm on New Years after which it has been below zero so it didn't melt. This morning I saw a car on a snowbank on a light pole.
