Former Miami Heat star Antoine Walker sold his 2006 Heat championship ring as a part of bankruptcy case according to TMZ Sports.
Antoine Walker, a three time NBA All-Star in 1998, 2002 and 2003, is currently competing in the NBA D-League for the Idaho Stampede. But Antoine Walker's D-League experience is a far cry from the lavish lifestyle he once indulged in with is Basketball Wives ex-fiance Evelyn Lozada, according to Sports Illustrated writer Chris Ballard.
From Ballard's Sports Illustrated story: "In five hours Walker will take the court for the Idaho Stampede of the NBA's Developmental League. For now he has agreed to talk about how and why he came to be here—a three-time All-Star living in a $915-a-month apartment he shares with reserve guard Chris Davis, and playing for a salary of less than $25,000. He has no car, subsists mainly on cold cuts and fast food and plays in front of crowds as small as 155."
It's always a sad story to watch another millionaire athlete plummet from financial freedom to a financial prison of his own making. It's even sadder when that athlete is forced to sell his championship ring. But, the saddest part is when that athlete's ex is making more money than he is simply for being in a prior relationship with that individual.
Evelyn Lozada, now engaged to NFL receiver Chad Ochocinco, is rumored to make approximately $15,000 per episode of VH1 Basketball Wives. Lozada makes almost equal to Walker's entire D-league salary in one episode. Interesting.
