Wireless USB Adapter nuh work...

It work just fin on mi laptop. But refuse to work on the desktop. All the USB ports seem to work fine. When the thing donw want to recognize the flash drive? [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70402-thinking.gif[/img]

On your desktop check the Hardware Device Manager to see if there is any conflicts. Right click on 'My Computer' and select 'Properties' select 'Hardware' tab and finally 'Device Manager'. If there is a problem with your PC hardware/driver it should be listed here.

No yellow exclamation marks or anything. Called Linksys support and they told me its a computer problem and not theirs. Cha!

Do you have anything else running on a USB port on the desktop? How many USB ports do you have?

One thing you can try as a last resort is to go into the device manager and delete the USB drivers, then reboot and windows will re-install them.

Hmm, been sitting here trying to wrap my mind around your problem and thought...What are you trying to do exactly? At first a wireless adapter sounds like a wireless ethernet card but then you mention flash drive, which sent me down the USB trail. So run this by me one more time in detail please. Feel free to link to the hardware in question if in doubt.

how old is ur desktop? does it support USB 2.0 & 1.0?
how old is the USB adapter? does it support USB 1.0 and 2.0?

Hey Reby and Kia.

The desktop is a Dell that's two years old. It has 8 USB ports, although I'm not sure if it's 1.0 or 2.0 (how do you check?)

What's I'm trying to do is hokk up a "Wireless-G USB Adapter" from LinkSys model WUSB54GC

I need to have the wireess going to the desktop so I can use a network cable from the one port on the desktop to connect to a Vonage phone. (It has to come through the desktop, because the ISP blocks VOIP phones in this country, and I have a workaround running on the desktop)

I had a different adapter working on it before, but it stopped working all the sudden. So I went to the store to exchange it, but they were out of that one, so I got a Linksys (since the router is Linksys too).

I hope this help you cause I don't know much about computers.

You might have a conflicting device on your Desktop...had the same prob with my wireless router.

Somebody told me once that my computer has Windows installed on it TWICE! Do you think that might be causing a problem?
