Package Plan?

Well I finally decided to buy another PC, after work at Best Buy. The guy kept going on and on about some package plan," If this and that happens to your PC you will be covered from viruses and blah blah blah [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/ideathink.gif[/img]

I kept telling him no, I didn't want it. Then he turns around asking me if I wanted them to check the PC out.I thought he said 15 minutes, but he really said 50 minutes. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/rolleyes.gif[/img]

So now I'm telling the guy " they had better not be messing with my PC, after the amount of times you kept insisting on me getting that daggone plan. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/fight.gif[/img] He had to laugh and said that was the first time somebody told him such a thing. I did feel a little better when a African guy came out to introduce himself cause he recognised my husband"s last name cause he was from kenya too. So my question is are these so call plans worth it or not? [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/rolleyes.gif[/img]

Well Boopie, it depends. If you are handy with tech things, then NO I don't think it is worth it. If not, then yes, it is worth it. Most of your issues will usually happen in the first year under the manufacturer's warranty. Laptops, are a different category than PC's because you can't easily upgrade or switch-out parts on them.

I don't like the fact that it overlaps with the manufacturer's warranty. Which, in fact makes their 3-year plan is actually 2-years.

Thanks J.Kid no I'm not very techy in these things but hopefully nothing extreme will happen to it. I think he was mostly talking about viruses and things of this matter. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70402-thinking.gif[/img]

Actually, the overlapping warranty is not a bad thing because it usually covers a wider scope of problems than the manufacturer's "limited warranty". This is great for laptops especially, because of dead pixel issues.
