Goodbye cable, hello antenna

There was a time when TV signals were free . I'm not a big TV person and I was paying too much money on my communication bill which included cable channels.

So I replaced cable TV with indoor HDTV antennas for the two TVs - I needed converter boxes as these TV sets are about 4 years old. Here's my new antenna - TERK FDTV2A.

I am happy to be getting free TV signals again.

Anybody else did this?

I watch networks mainly with a little Bravo. I could do this...but the other people that live here would prob complain.

does it get the following cable channels?
Lifetime, Oprah, HGTV,MSNBC

and the following network channels?
ABC, NBC, CBS

If so, I think we can get mommy off the FiOS TV plan

I can find my fav shows online I am sure

NBC, ABC, CBS, Fox, several PBS stations, and ION stations.

From here: www.antennaweb.org/address.aspx you can put in your address or zip code and they'll tell you what stations you have access to. For me it is "Up to 58 channels from 26 over-the-air stations may be received at this location."

Does not have these. I also have a BluRay player which has wireless connection to FIOS. With this I can watch a number of free live web programs.

Whe yuh mean by dat Gen? Whe dem ah sey noh mek noh sense.

Same antenna gets all channel, it jus depends pan di reception strength ah yuh antenna and whe yuh aim it. Yuh will also get stations in between.

Yes ma'am. Well I also pay for digital phone service keeping my land line number I've had since God was a boy
and I pay for cell phone service.

The HD tuner/antenna I bought comes with an amplifier and a built-in auto-tuning feature. So the antenna picks up the strongest possible signal for my area and adds all the local channels. I still have to tweak it a bit by moving the antenna closer to the window. The antenna includes a signal strength menu so that as I select a channel, the tuner reports the current signal strength so that, if I care about the program I am watching, I can position my antenna for better reception.

This is all I need from TV. I get the news at news times, I can watch 60-Minutes, and I can watch those PBS series and specials I like.

If I feel like watching a movie, or a TV series that I've like in the past, I can stream from Netflix.
