The battery fire was contained to a small section of the battery at the front of the vehicle- as shown in the video. You notice in the video, the body of the car is not on fire- that is due to the gel packs in between the batteries to contain a fire if there was one.
The fire was caused by a large metal object that directly hit one of the battery pack's modules.
Tesla is sensitive to the battery pack issue and has been consulted by Boeing to help with the Dreamliner issue.
Lets face it, how many ICE vehicles could contain their 15 gallon gas tank on fire to just one section?
Still ****ing safer than an internal combustion engine car! The fire also proved why the Model S earned the highest NHTSA (sp) safety ratings eva!!If you don't fight for what you deserve, you deserve what you get.
