I'm thinking of buying an e-reader as a gift for someone who is a bookworm.

I know very little about these devices.

Important factors are durability, battery life, a dispaly that looks similar to ink on paper, easy to use, able to access many free or low cost books in various file formats, under $150 price point. Things that are not important, colour dispaly, lots of bells and whistles. This device will just be used as a reader.

Any suggestions?

kingle is king with me. but i've never tried any other e-reader

e-ink looks very book-like ..amazon features a good amount of free books, and i hear that the new one has a longer battery life (no complaints with the current battery life tho' - i charge it about once a week, and I do a fair amount of reading on the weekend)

smaddy tell me that they getting me this one for chrismus because them tired of the light shining in dem eye all hours of the night and into the wee hours of the morning (this new one has a built in light). btw the one with the special offers or advertising is cheaper and the ads aren't a big deal as they go away once u turn on the device

is the Kindle like Apple products, do they run in somewhat closed environment, meaning that they only support a small number of file formats, while e-books like Kobo support a larger selection? Would that be something to consider?

Well I only download books from Amazon (all the sites that I listed down in the books forum, ultimately lead back to amazon), but I have had a few owners of kobo and other types of e-readers ask me where I get my free/cheap books. I've never felt the need to download from B&noble or wherever the people with other e-readers download from.

kindle paperwhite (most like newsprint/book) might be your best bet. a think dem on sale today

I only use amazon books cause mi cannot bother guh search for other book sources, but CB did tell mi seh mi can borrow library books on it
