Usain Bolt, Allyson Felix named IAAF World Athletes of the Year

BARCELONA, Spain -- Usain Bolt has won the IAAF World Athlete of the Year award for the fourth time over United States hurdler Aries Merritt and Kenyan runner David Rudisha.

The Jamaican sprinter, who defended his 100 and 200 metre gold medals at this summer's Olympic Games, had previously won the award in 2008, 2009, and 2011.

United States sprinter Allyson Felix won the women's World Athlete of the Year award. The other finalists were Valerie Adams and Jessica Ennis.

Well deserved for Mr. Bolt. Why didn't they select one of our Jamaican women athlete ... Shelley Ann Frasier or even Sandra (Sanya?) Richardson who did so well in the Olympics?

Her specialty is the 200 meter race, winning the 2012 Olympic gold, two Olympic silver medals, and three world championship golds. She also competes at the 100 meter and the 400 meter distances, winning three Olympic gold medals as a member of the United States' women's relay teams, two at 4×400 meters and one as part of the world-record 4×100 meter team. Her three gold medals at the 2012 Summer Olympics are the most a female track athlete has won since 1988
