Why does my wireless extender...

keep losing connection?
Nuff time it can jus boops and it have no connection and won't connect wid diagnosis an ting, sometime u can plug it out and it still won't connect.
Sometime mi plug it out 3 & 4 time an it still nah connect and it is at dis point mi ready fi beat de friggah into submission.
Why can't dese tings have feelin? Especially de way it a mek mi cus it bludrawz

Do I need a better one ar wah it was pan de cheapah end?

Has it always been like dis, or jus started happening? Is your extender hard wired to the main, or wirelessly connected to the main? Wha kina signal strength yuh seeing fi di extender and main units?

signal strength is always strong when connected. Its been like dis off and on from mi get it.
Sometime it would go a whole week no prob and then it will go down work for a day, work for 2 or 3 and then down again a couple times a day after I had to run upstairs to unplug the modem/router. Sometime that will help it to connect and other times not.

I said it ( the wireless extender) is not hard wired Wireless was de word mi use.
I have no prob with the laptop it connects to the modem/router no problem.
The extender for the PC in the studio, mi a poas from it jus now.

I was saying the laptop (which I have here in the studio) never has a prob finding the modem/router (upstairs on de 2nd floor, mi inna de basement ya now)
but ever now an den dis ting ya seem fi walk off an guh bout it business fi return only when him ready.
Mi need a leash feet.

Mek mi explain tuh yuh. WIRELESS noh mean ongle wireless. Wireless can bi used hardwired or wireless.Do you have di extender placed at ah distance halfway (or less) between di router, and di basement location whe di laptop usually deh? By di way, how far ah distance in feet is it from di router to di basement?

I am now on de laptop cah de dyamting just decide seh it tiyad ar supm.
I'm probably bout 22 feet str8 up (going trough 2 floors dat is)
De extender is in dis same room weh mi laptop deh and it hook up to the desktop in a rack of equipment.

I have another one of these extenders upstairs in the family room an it hook tuh de sat reseevah an it duh de same ting tuh.

when it lost connection like now it even seh "unidentified network" and mi na have no internet access.
MI nuh kno how it can seh dat when is only one network program in a de grasscyaat ting

What mi would recommend yuh duh wid di wireless extender units is to hardwire dem to di rouret for signal consistency. Dat is whe mi duh an all di big boys duh wid dem wireless extenders. It is well know dat di low end wireless extenders are flaky. Even I hav tried using dem dat way and gave up pan dem due to inconsistency wid signal strength. If yuh can drill di holes an feed di cat CAT-5 cable den duh it.

There are multiple ways of setting stuff up. Some ways are more reliable and stable than others. Since you want to stick with wireless, you can do some other stuff found on the web to boost the signal between the two units. Which model TP-Link you have so I can look up the capabilities of the unit?

Lets get the easy questions out of the way. The manual shows that you can have multiple modes for the wireless. It also shows an 'extender' mode. How did you set up the unit? Did you use the easy setup software or did you configure it manually? What mode is it in? Extender or Access Point?

Looking at the manual, it seems it defaults to AP or Access Point when the Easy setup software is used. This would probably explain why you need to reboot it often or why you can't currently access the web. (That's the reliability part I mentioned.) Then there is the wireless section which has additional setup for Extender or Access point mode. These are separate sections and need to be coordinated for the whole thing to work properly.

We will need to find out for sure how it is setup and then change it accordingly. This is assuming of course that the signal itself can reach through the two floors. If not, that's when you have make use of some Pringles and build a Cantenna with the left over tube. The Antennas on the unit appear to be removable, so this should be easy to build.
