laptop monitor dead ... again

Second time this has happened. First time it was still under warranty and sent it in to get fix. It was the back light that burnt out...

Now I'm thinking of maybe getting an external flat screen monitor, maybe a 23"... saw some on Bestbuy... HP flat screen monitors.
I think this way would be less expensive than getting the laptop screen replaced.

$180.00 (taxes not yet included) for the HP 23" HD LED flat screen monitor.

Does this make sense or do you think it's better sending the laptop to a tech person to get it fixed?

However, if yuh need it fi transport outa di house, den pot di $180 pan wan low cost replacement laptop. Mi si som fi 200 an odd dallas round di place.

It's a Compaq HP brand laptop ... about 5 yrs old. It works good and feel just as new... mi hate to depart from it with a new laptop. It's usually stationery at home which is why I was thinking of just getting a new external monitor.

Compaq laptop screens are well known for going bad. Had one mysenf, will never buy another.

Well, if yuh naa walk wid it, den grab hold ah wan external monitor den.

Ongle one ting, mi feel sey yuh ah drop too much pan di monitor. Fi ah 23" should bi around $150 wid free shipping an no tax.

Edit: Hmmm, I searched for 23" and this blasted ting come up wid a 21.5" monitor. So if we round up, we're at 22", but still 1 inch less. Search bots. Got to love them sometimes. Kinda' like eBay search run circles around the Amazon search and you can exclude certain results on eBay. Just try that with Amazon. It's an exercise in patience.

After today's somewhat disappointing experience with NewEgg, I'll just say watch the market prices closely if you're going to be spending money with them. They wont honor prices that are less, even it was 17 days ago from them. YMMV.

And don't send a survey to a disappointed customer, because it will not be a neutral or 'good' survey.

Here's what has happened... My husband got a flat screen monitor which is really a TV. It is huge! I said that I can't deal with such a monstrosity as an external monitor for my laptop. Granted it makes viewing pictures a charm. My husband is a "the more the better" person and I'm "less is best"... so we had differences bout the monstrous flat screen tv ..ergo.. monitor. Add to it that I don't read manuals.. waste of time, and he's a firm believer in reading manuals to get it right. So I took it off my desk and park it one side. I really liked how the pictures on the screen saver came to life on the monster monitor. lol! Then he went to BestBuy and got another 'tv ..ergo.. monitor'. This one is indeed a tv.. no option to switch to tv mode, pc mode, usb mode. I gave in and read the instructions... a complete waste of my time. Wrapped it up and requested a return.

I'm going to get myself a new laptop this weekend.
