Have you checked with the developer? He should be able to frame the site (it's not that difficult). If you are not comfortable / familiar with HTML coding, framing could be challenging. What Are Frames?

My thinking is that with a framed website, similar to the one in the image of the linked page, you should be able to embed the music file in the left frame (menu_bar.htm) as that is static. When someone selects a menu option, the page is changed in the main.htm. I can't see how you can accomplish what you're trying to do without using frames.

I see what you are saying, to have the main page frame the whole Site, then every other page called within it that way the first intance of the music is never ended.

Well Frames did get a bad rap as the first iteration made them look ugly when executed in HTML.
Now with DHTML and it variants it is possible to call up pages dynamically and tailored to the individual without using HTML Frames.

I will have to look into it myself since I have not done anything like that. I think if the site is hosted on a WinDoze Platform and she as access to certain functions I think ASP would be easier to implement.... of course JAVA SCRIPT and or even JAVA itself might be easier but I only know some BASIC and enough VB to get me in trouble.

You can too!

using the <DIV></DIV> tags in combination with CSS is a simple and powerful means of formatting your page.

For Instance:
First of three <DIV></DIV>s could be Header
Middle could be body
Last could be footer.

<DIV></DIV>s can be formatted with all kinds of arguments to make the contents appear just as you like!

I'm thinking [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70402-thinking.gif[/img] That is usually not a good thing but I think my thinking may be OK in this case. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70456-eyebrows.gif[/img]

The header codes are on all the pages therefore if I copy the song file into the header, I would have to do so in all the pages and it'll restart the song on each page. Cho.

Subject to correction.... No....this is your Style Sheet it sets the values for your formatting vis-à-vis
different sections of you page.
It uses JScript and I suppose it overstand Theme as a Keyword I will look into that.

Lets say you call up ThemeDefault2MainItemActive, the Style Sheet will format the look, in terms of V&H placement, Font Size/colour/style of the various elements, but the actions that is performed within that section is determined by what code you put in that section.

Not knowing too much of JScript I don't know for instance what triggers the music. Could be a hotspot on the menu or a mouse action (on hover), etc....In the moring I will check it out to a better fullness!

1: It is not considered good practice to have music continuously playing. Visitors should be able to switch it off without muting their computer sound volume.

2: Framed sites are a bad idea as they are not search engine friendly; can be ugly if not implemented correctly; can be a headache to maintain if your new to html.

3: Embedding using css and javascript is a better more efficient method. Use javascript or flash to embedd your music and enable it to be switched off/mute by the visitor.

Found a player.
Small, stream-able, neat, embeddable, with options and cross-platform capabilities.
Thanks to MP3 and Playlist.

Of course all media hog resources.
The other methods would need to set cookies or use a Flash Script, a little more complicated.
This might not be a most efficient, but the explanation was contained one page.

Well you can always stop and resume play from where the player stop, when you use a with an interface that is visible (ie calling Media Player, QuickTime, W-Amp or whatever), but say you want to do it intuitively by remembering the users preferences, stop and starting the music as the user move to the next page, I would say Flash Scripts, ASP and/or Cookies are the most likely ways to succeed @this.
