the first cell phone in today's dollars would be $10,000 - are they bringing us closer together or farther apart? after all, what the hell is a text - "i want to say something to you without actually getting involved" - isn't it.

On April 3rd, 1973, Motorola engineer Marty Cooper placed the first public call from a cellular phone.
That first cell phone call was made to one of Cooper’s rivals, Joel Engel at Bell Labs.
