I have an old Dell Dimension 4100 and I am trying to get the drive out before I chuck it on the recycle pile.

I unscrewed 2 screws from the back but the PC is still in tact [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70394-bawlout.gif[/img]

After you pull the screws you have to apply pressure to the panel that was screwed,and push it toward the back. The panel is oin a grove that has opennings that it will only slip our of when forced towards the back of the box.
Somewhat like how you remove a cabinet draw. After you do this you can justlift it off.

Some PC hard drives are mounted with 4 screws. Look for 2 more near the front.

You no si she no even get in the box yet,much less to pull HDD.
She want to open the box to access it,but she still at first base.

Ok I am here now ..got some small screwdrivers and still can't get it out. the DRIVE that is. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/mad.gif[/img] looks like 6 small screws but the only access to the screws is in the case itself not at the outside front like yuh seem to be saying [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70402-thinking.gif[/img]

if mi did have a hammer mi mash up it whatsitnat enuh cho [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/bexbad.gif[/img]

ok my next plan was to get a hammer and pound it into the next galaxy. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/bexbad.gif[/img]

BUT I decided one last try [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/704555_dwl.gif[/img]. So I took another look at it and by the side there are arrows pointing upwards [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/rolleyes.gif[/img] so I pushed them up and lo and behold nothing moved [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/rolleyes.gif[/img], pushed them inwards and was able to pry the front panel that protects the drives (floppy, cd etc) it was THEN that I saw the screws I was supposed to be messing with , 4 of them. I didn't even need the tiny screwdrivers above [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70400-talktohand.gif[/img] a regular one did the trick [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/bexbad.gif[/img]

suh a the one weh name IDE hard drive mi want right ? can you believe mi did tek one A+ class [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/rolleyes.gif[/img]

cho mi nuh have patience fi dem sitten yah enuh ..

after all a dat mi need one drink


next project is to install the wireless router
