RAM PROBLEM

Morning Folk

Hope unu is well an ting. Mi just get some DDR memory fi mi desktop. Inserted it and ting, but put the machine back on and it beeping. According to this site http://www.microsoft.com/athome/moredone/addmemory.mspx dem seh under <span style='font-family: Arial Black'>INSTALL YOU RAM </span> that it will be if it's incompatible. But hear ya now, mi tek out de new ram and de ting still beepin - I won't see any startup info on the monitor either....HELP PLEASE

I had a 512, and a 1 GB stick that I got today. Mi tek out de 512 and inserted the 1GB and thereafter inserted the 512 MB. DE ting beeped once, and voila! I'm in business again.

Thursday gaawn mi buy 512K 2700 and realize seh the older slower RAM is more expensive, but my board will not address any faster speed.

Just a few things wid RAM:

Some motherboards take couple reboots before they will recognize the new RAM, and will beep as a result, because it first did not recognize the new stuff (till it check fi si if it credentials bogus or not [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/desdentado.gif[/img] )

Not all computers allow you to mix different memory sizes, or bank slots placement. The placement sometimes must be in a certain order.

Memory speed will operate to slowest RAM stick on your MB, not the other way around. In other words, the RAM speed will step down to the slowest speed. You will see a boost in performance however due to the extra memory processing capacity / capability.

Funny my brother just wrote to me and he wants PC2700 as well.
