remote control cunundrum

the cable remote for the tv in me bedroom stap work (me haffi tun an de tv and change channel and volume manually) same time as the tv remote in me living room (the cable one still works in the living room but me haffi tun awn de tv manually)

this has drastically reduced de amount of time spent wid the boob tube awn.. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70394-bawlout.gif[/img]

any ideas wha could cause dis? could there be some sorta electronic interference [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/confused.gif[/img]

an yes me change the batteries in the remotes [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/bubble.gif[/img]

Try holding the remote control longer infront of th eTV.
These new remotes requires them to be held longer,because they fire 2 sepearte IR signals the first one for the cablebox,and after a few seconds they fire the other one for the TV.
I had a relation that swore that his did not work until I demonstrated it more than a few times then he get it. He still don't like the remote though. Good luck.

You need some new batteries. The rubber buttons on some of these thin new remotes are nothing more than a capacitive or carbon contact pad (switchs) on a long strip of rubber, that when pressed contacts another carbon coating on the other side. Sometimes they get filled up with gook, or just plain and simply, wear out. The remote may need to be disassembled and cleaned.

Also, sometimes you get a static charge build-up on the poorly designed ones and again they need to be opened up and each surface lightly wiped rubbing alcohol.

Oh, I didn't understand that part. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70394-bawlout.gif[/img] So you don't have everything on one remote control? We have ours hooked up that way. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wavey.gif[/img]

I also remembered once when I was single when I bought a new remote I had to look up some certain code "depends on what tv you have" and then entering the code numbers into the remote then it worked. the living room one is new an me neva memba how fe code it..

but the cable remote in the bedroom is coded and its completely useless
