I remember years ago having to bring home piles of paper if I needed to work at home. Matter of fact, remember when we had to use typewriters? If there was an error, we would have to retype the entire thing. Then PC's came on the scene. That was super cool. Being able to go back to a document, make whatever changes without having to retype everything.

Mind you, if you needed to work at home, you had better had a PC there too. Then laptops came on the scene. Oh the joy of taking your computer with you wherever you wanted to.

Today I got a new laptop with lots more memory but it weighs so much less than the previous one. Wow...I thought more memory meant more weight...kidding.

Now you can transfer data using this little thumb drive thingy...not to mention being able to read your mail and doing stuff if you happen to have one of those Treo or Blackberry or any of those data phones.

Well, now yuh hav virtual office, which bin around fi several years now. Yuh noh even haffi goh into ah physical building if yuh noh want tuh. If yuh choose fi goh in, den yuh mek an appointment fi reserve ah physical office space or conference room fi duh whe yuh need fi duh ah di physical building. Other dan dat everyting is done online. Fi those who still get paid fi overtime, Ah wanda how dem figah out di hours fi pay yuh fi yuh overtime? Is it pan ah honesty system? Mi doubt that it is. Mi suspect yuh jus draw ah salary based pan completion, an meeting yuh deadlines/timelines/milestones. Maybi dem duhit like Lawyers (billable hours ting. Anybaddi know di answer?

J Kid, I don't see my boss as she is in the US. I can do my job wherever in the world I want to as long as I can connect to the internet. Couple weeks ago in the middle of my busiest time period I worked from a hotel room during the days and attended a personal conference at nights.

For my team, we are paid a salary for 7.5 hours per day (whether you're busy or not)....if you suddenly get busy after those 7.5 hours, you are paid overtime for the number of hours worked. So any work outside of your normal day is overtime.

Unno stay deh...di other day I was straightening up my garage and I found a typewriter. I wonder if it's worth money. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/70402-thinking.gif[/img]

I was trying to make the baby a piece of toast this morning, their toaster oven sucks if you're not careful you'll end up burning whatever is in there. The toast did burn around the edges, I remembered when I was young we used the broiler to make toast with all that heat I never burned toast. Also it's funny to watch the older videos I saw one guy with a corless phone but it was big like a walkie talkie. Yesterday I was playing around with my new phone and discovered that it's voice activated. I'm horrible at reading manuals so I had no clue. Now I can tell the phone to call home.

nike and ipod have joined efforts - you can have an pedometer like device in your shoe connected to your nano ipod via infrared and track your mileage

the tv remotes are combined-- when was the last time you walked up to the set to change the channel

banking is pretty much virtual; remember when you had to go to the bank at certain hours and you got to know your tellers?

presently, yuh can program yuh TV DVR from di internet from anywhere in di world. Anybaddi still ah buy VCR's?

Mi pay jus about all ah fi mi bills online, either at the companies web sites or through mi bank each month. Mi statements are all electronic. It is great if yuh travel constantly.
