Hint...set up the cable modem in bridge mode, which is usually unsupported by your ISP. (doesn't matter) Then clone the router to use the same mac address as the modem. (if the router support this, I know some versions of the LinkSys will support this mode.) This prevent a dual DHCP server, (modem and router) and you will have more reliable connections. It should also help with multiple users on the network. You might have to program in the DNS ips into the router to be able to get out to the internet when using it this way, but it works.
