Yeah, try it and see what happens. If it don't get any better you can always change it back. Theoretically it is supposed to help, but I've worked on enough computers to know it doesn't always do anything. You also didn't mention Norton. The new versions of this program is a serious memory hog and makes a noticeable speed difference when it is active. It could be the cause of the issue. Disable everything in it to find out for a session or two. AVG is ok, but it has a resident shield that a lot of people don't know about. This resident shield can be active even if you thought you disabled the AVG. (varies by the version) Still anything is better than nothing and you're already taking good steps by leaving the work pc for work. Just one mistyped URL and you can have crap loaded on your pc.

I've got tons of available space vs used space Rudegal. I defrag regularly as well.

The change in virtual memory from 744MB to 1000MB is making a world of difference. So, I am thinking my issue is with the amount of processing speed Norton is taking up on my laptop. I'm gonna try AVG - I dont like ZoneAlarm - and see if that makes a difference with the speed as well.

I just want to make sure my data is well protected cause of the sensitivity of it.

I was thinking about buying a new laptop but I dont think I need to do that after all.

Everyone is correct and yes the AV software takes up lot of the processors resources, slowing down your computer. I don't use them, but I have heard that TrendMicro is less taking.

Since Virtual Memory is less efficient if you can increase the size of your physical memory in the Laptop this would limit or stop the amount of times Windows needs to go to the VM.

On another note even though you might have two programs open, some programs use multiple sessions and other like the AV are running in the Background. Any Database Program is usually very taxing on the Memory and Processor.

I have never heard of TrendMicro. I'll google it and check it out.

I probably sound like a broken record but I really need to make sure that I have good protection on my computers, so if you think TrendMicro is worthwhile then I'll look into it tonight.

I don't have a virus program installed on my computer, but I did Beta Test TrendMirco and it was good.
Recently I have heard it mention as a good alternative to resource hungry NAV.

All computers, especially older ones trying to run new software, benefit from Physical Memory Upgrades.
Memory both on the Video Processing and the Computing Side is one of the most important components in the Computer System.
