no worries nan, MACs are great. Real easy to use, much easier than the PC. Microsoft's whole "windows" concept was just a copy of the MAC's original operating sytem. wankers.

i think you'll like it a WHOAL lot better than the Dell. better for graphics too -

I have Vista on my machine. Haven't had any problems other than my old printer is not compatible, I suspect there are alot of programs/hardware that isn't. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif[/img] But I needed a new computer and could only find ones with Vista. One of these days, I'll have to upgrade my printer but I'll wait until they have more bugs fixed with compatibility.

I have spent a lot of time in one repair shop in town this past week getting my PC tuned up and working now that I sent the laptops back to Dell.

You CAN find new computers with the XP program but now they are more expensive. The shop I was doing business with starts them at 1,200. They said the service packs for Vista should be out sometime in 2008 but no date has been announced yet!

Or, buy the new computer with Vista and also buy an XP program to install..what a load of crap that solution is!

One guy that was in looking for a laptop with XP said he was able to find a Tosiba laptop that was a 2005 model at a best buy or some similar store. I dunno, but I will just stick to being chained to my desk for a bit I suppose.

YES Kia! I am going to wait a little bit, I just tuned up my desk PC and will save a little money for the Mac since they are a bit more spendy. I won;t be leaving much for the winter anyway so will just try to be hapopy with what I have. Ijust ordered faster dsl so maybe that will help sooth my nerves after the whole ordeal!

it is a laptop.. a dell 1720 a heavy one but it is much betta than a real desktop so if i want to move it, it is not a big deal

My mom bought a Mac about 6 months ago because she was so fed up with her Windows computer.

What did it do? Erase her entire calendar and contacts one time after it froze up and she restarted it (not supposed to happen on a Mac right?).

She lives by her appointments and contacts and the backup program she was using with the Mac apparently didn't back up that data correctly. It was a mess. She's not so in love with that Mac now.
