Power supply problem?

Since recently my desktop PC at home keeps rebooting itself. I'd be there in the middle of a long [censored] email, then pffttt...the bloody computer reboot itself! After that it keeps rebooting itself over and over ... I have to quickly power down, wait a few mins, then power it back up.

Reby, Tuff Gong, JKid, the other genius guy ... you computer tech heads. Need your help! I made sure I did a back up of all my files.

Could be the power supply, could be a virus/worm.

- What OS are you using?
- Installed / reinstalled any applications recently?

SandiF, that happened to my PC a while back and I had to get it reformatted. Lost everything. [img]/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif[/img]

Sounds like a worm. Go to the Microsoft Website... http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/detai...&DisplayLang=en

Download the malware removal tool. Run it and see if it finds anything. If it doesn't, check the fan and vacuum out all the dust. If you know how to take the machine apart, vacuum out all the dust there too. If it were a power supply problem, usually they just quit and stop working. It wont do what you're describing. So that leaves either a worm or overheating problem.
