I think the bell would work same as it does now, as fi de wifi part maybe it's a good idea to put a battery backup on the wifi.

That looks pretty nifty. Plus you can see who and who comes to your door when you're not at home.

If you can wait a bit, the price will come down eventually. Dat price can get me quite a few cameras for the surveillance system. Just replaced two 700tvl cams at my aunt's place for less than $40 shipped.

If you want to tinker, there have been some amazing stuff the Pi and Arduino devices.
If you already have the iStuff, the Arduino was less than $50 last time I checked.
