okay, having MAJOR battles with my desktop today
came into the office and noticed my internet connection on my desktop wasnt working. I checked my router and the cable modem for trouble.
couldnt see any so I called the cable co. Spent an hour on the phone with them and they concluded that there is a problem with my internal IP settings. So they suggested I call Dell.
I called Dell and I agreed with them that it doesnt seem to be an issue with my desktop. Dell tells me to try the cable company again.
Now I am getting annoyed because I need to work and I need my internet connection in order to do so.
So, I try my laptop to see if there are the same issues with it....I can connect to my laptop just fine wirelessly but not not if I am wired.
So, it seems like it is not the cable modem or router like Dell suggested but the configuration of the desktop PC not reading my IP address correctly. The IP address coming up is not my assigned IP address from the cable company but the internal IP address from the router starting with 169....
I tried resetting it six ways from Sunday and cant get it to do so. Any suggestions?
What I have done so far is:
bypassed the wireless router
disabled the wireless router (but in control panel it wasnt listed to disable )
reset the winsock
flush the DNS server
uninstalled the network card and rebooted expecting the network card to reinstall itself.
