i am going to negril in september for the first time in eight years. i have my place to stay and, having lived there for a year, i feel comfortable.

i want you who have been there much more than i over the years to give me some suggestions ....is sweet spice still good? is rock house still romantic? chances still have the best pizza?

please give me your suggestions. i would love to hear.

ok about LOBSTERS
da closed lobster season runs from April 1 to June 30 every year ...$8US for a single cooked lobster and $15US for twin lobsters cooked from da Lobstermon.....though the Lobstermon's don't adhere to observing the closed season as it is regularly available on da beach.......established restaurants make the necessary arrangements with the government authorities in order to serve lobster during this time, so it's quite okay to enjoy lobster meals in these places....at your favorite Restaurants lobsters run around $1500J to 2000J
or some prices are $24.00US-$35.00US for like the following:

Grilled Lobster
Lobster tails served in the shell with a side of melted butter.
Garlic Lobster
Lobster, garlic, tomato, onion and green pepper sautéed in butter.
Curried Lobster
Lobster, garlic, onion and green pepper sautéed in a curried coconut sauce.

SALADS and SANDWICHES around $10US
Lobster Salad

thanks, all of you. Nanook, you have spoken so often about Jah B's, it is definitely on the list. and, while i have never had the lobster pizza from Tamboo, i've heard enough about it that i must try it. thanks for that comprehensive list, Seveen.

it is probably not as important as when i lived there, but is Juicy J's still around? they made a great burger. when you live in Jamaica, you get an occasional craving for some &quot;homestyle&quot; food.

our plan is to use negril as a base and take day trips. i have never been to alligator pond, so i would like to go there. i was in little bay once, but i think that is a place to revisit.

mister mister and i are probably not too much into the night life scene (old and tired, you know), but perhaps we will check out alfred's just for old time sake. is the jungle really worth a venture for two who are no longer into the club scene?

but, then who knows what i will really feel like after being there. i still have the fondest memories of my first trip and how relaxed and energized i felt by my second day.

while it has been 8 years since i have been in negril, i have been in kingston numerous times and runaway bay a couple. i am excited to see the changes in negril whether i will like them or not.

i know one thing that makes me sad is looking at pictures of the beach. it is certainly not what it used to be.

Chicken Lavish
Xtabi delicious lobster dishes such as Lobster thermidor,
lobster and shrimp bites, decent steaks, good drinks
Rock House, pretty decent steak, fish and chicken dishes, Chef Kevin makes amazing desserts
Bentley's crab cakes out of this world
Catcha Fallin Star A very good seafood pasta dish, crab cakes with chunks of crab meat, no skimping
Alice's lobster
Chef Jr lobster
Sea Star Inn good lobster, a good stuffed chicken dish, on Saturdays they have a pretty good buffet
Choices Red Snapper
Crystal Rose Chinese food very good
Negril Escapes on Tuesday they do a show and Buffet, good lobster

Beach:
Cosmos
Selina's Sunday Brunch
Tamboo's good lobster pizza, delicious red pea soup
Mama Flo's sweet and sour chicken, Jamaican food
Shamrock fresh squeezed orange juice
Best of West chicken near Coco La Palm

I have eaten at one time or another at all of these places and enjoyed them all.

I highly recommend as a day trip doing YS Falls, and Pelican Bar

Roaring River in the caves with Rasta Mike

A day in Treasure Beach of course check out Jake's
Little Ochi is a very good choice
Whitehouse for fish and bammy

Ricks cafe has decent food and OK entertainment

A sunset cruise

Never been but Laurel raves about Biggah's in Green Island on the way to Negril near the marker that says Negril 23 kilometers

A trip over to Little Bay to Purple Rain for lunch

Oh for dessert LaBella Italia Ice Cream at Blue Water Internet Cafe on the cliffs

Tried all except Biggahs and I highly recommend all, hope you find something that suits you.

my son just went to negril yesterday for the first time in about 6 years..too.. he has been to Porty once three years ago for a week. so back to negril in so long is new too.. ill see what he has to say on his return..... .hes staying way up on the cliffs away from things.. i spoke to him briefly and he was happy happy watching out to sea at sunset.. and saying the person running hte place is &quot;the man&quot; i feel slightly jealous. he went home wihtout me. but he has his gf.. romantic time
