I never even heard of this author and this stuff... and why CHICAGO I wonder... this is interesting. One of my ladies innocently said yes when asked about food and was held up for quite some time. All she had was packaged snacks. I think they kept some of them. I've brought in stuff in a small cooler in my checked bag. If you get caught, all they will do is take it, so you have a 50/50 chance of getting what you wanted to take in into the country. I always take a special cheese I like to go in my eggs or for snacking.

I remembered reading about somebody thinking a traveling companion got held up because of snacks( I believe there was a foundation garment (or removal of) involved.) . I carry survival stuff in my carry on -trail mix and bagels- and would live if I lost them, but my long term snacky stuff would be BAD. Have people depending on me for nuts and them 'picy grahm bears I

We bring instant coffee as our room doesn't have a coffee maker in the kitchen. We bring a hot water heater thingy for this. But also, I bring cappacino (sp) packets or hot chocolate because I need something hot in the mornings out of habit. LOL
