As the trip draws near, and you start to gather things here and there in anticipation. How many of you have a "Jamaica Box" filling up??


I started my box last weekend


Bug spray, sun screen, travel size moose and lotion, hair ties for the Ladies selling jewelry on the beach..

My Toiletries case remains packed at all times....you never know when a good last minute deal will turn up.

I don't carry anything special. Shower gel, toothpaste, deodorant, lotion, etc.

If I shop, then its usually gifts for family and friends.

My special JA packing means, leaving enough space and allowable weight to bring back goodies from home.

My "to go" bag is always packed as well. I go on jaunts here and there to visit friends, so I always have a travel bag.

no box, just a pile--growing and growing.
on the spare bed in the basement...the clothes to pick thru and decide whether,1. it will fit,2. it will get worn,3. it's worth haulin all the way there.
On the dresser... pads of paper, little fuzzy toys , snacky stuff , lotion and shirts and stuff for sharing--the destructions 4 my new d. camera am comin home w/ GOOD pictures this time. nuts ,nuts nuts always popular!!
piling up what goes, unpiling the rest of the house so some oone else can find their way around

My thing is lists. stuff to go ,necessary papers,otc drugs and meds, destructions for housesitter w/ important #'s,what to do if this door sticks, the coffee lives here, the garbage goes there,how to set the furnace, DON'T BURN MY HOUSE DOWN!! Lists of lists..........
I have 13 days to go, and it still hasn't sunk in.I don't believe it's true eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

After my last trip luggage fiasco, my biggest concern is WHAt can I put in my carry on!!

I usually carry all my <span style="font-weight: bold">must have's </span>in my carry on.. change of clothes, toiletries, bathing suit, sunscreen, and bug spray... enough for a day or two in JA. I had the experience of the airline losing my luggage once, NOT FUN!


I also usually go with just 1 checked bag, and inside that I pack a collapsible duffle bag. I bought one that zips up on itself and takes up very little space. It's a perfect way to bring back dirty clothes and free up space in my carry on for souvenirs!

yes certain things always stay packed, but unfortunately my hair /makeup products are not travel size so i must check it in but for my travel bag it would be items I would use in the 1st few hrs after landing

I'd rather spend a few seconds a day applying mousse than a whole day getting this braided





plus it looks funky all in braids, I much prefer my natural curls...

i just clap my hands and my clothes jump into the suitcase

i barely take anything - each trip i take less and less

all the powders, creams and lotions attract bugs

i basically wear a bathing suit all day

and i'd be hard pressed to tell you what anyone else has on

one NYE i still had my bathing suit on at midnight

as far as gifts - no one balks at money or a nice meal

While getting my Jamaica box ready I'd put in beads of Caribbean colors. A couple of good books, and I'd always throw in a package of black crew socks for Uncle Sam. A big one so he could pass a few out. Some baby clothes I'd surf rummage sales for, and candy for the kids.

One time I got down to just a carry on, but my down pillow wouldn't fit. I have to have my soft down pillow so I ended up with one suitcase and a down pillow.
