North Coast Highway Update

Greetings, renting a car in April and driving the North Coast all the way to Portland. How far is the new road complete to? which part of the island is the road still under construction? Does anyone have a link to a map of the new road and where it goes?

Not all of the North Coast highway looks like the picture Roots posted. (That section is the Duncans By-Pass).

MoBay-Ochi is a wide and quick highway (with lots of police to keep you from using it to its full potential )

Ochi-Port Antonio has been worked on, and I'm not sure how that looks now. Perhaps someone has been recently.

And speaking of roads...

I spend all of yesterday driving around the island of Malta. And the first thing that came to mind.. the roads are terrible!

I always look to go 'off the beaten path' and this time I was looking for a decent piece of road.

But really and truely, I don't think I'd enjoy yesterday's adventures as much if the road was nice and smooth! First of al, it wouldn't classify as an adventure!

First, I wouldn't have to figure out how to pass an oncoming country bus on a 1 car lane that has walls on both sides, and then having to backup, uphill, in a manual.

I wouldn't have to formulate in my mind the excuse I'm going to give to the people at Budget Car Rental in the very likely event that my Kia Ria will fall off the Dingli Cliffs!

As long as the road is passable, and you're on vacation, it's a good road.

I lived in Chester, Vt. for seven years (left in 2005) and had a shop called &quot;Cream of the Crop&quot;....played reggae music constantly. Do you know the town or the business?

Now I live in Duncans Bay &amp; own a guesthouse AND still am designing &amp; building jewelry....in Jamaica

Mi drive all pon de N coast an de roads were very good.

Where in portland u going??

I did the drive from ochi to Hart Hill/Buff Bay area in Portland last week and it took me 1 hour.

road was great all the way thru..just some eediat slow drivaz pon de road some time

there was some construction approaching the highgate turn off and around robins bay area weh slow mi down. But once u cross the bridge u good to go..

didn't make it to port antonio, but i hear the road is good up thru st margaret's bay
