Jamaica Miss mentioning her friend named Cock got me to thinking about some of the nicnames we have heard, or gotten while in Jamaica.

Let's hear them!

One that sticks in my mind is Mashup. Mashup used to live in Little Bay and spent a lot of time around Sam's. In fact, I wrote a story about him and Lucky the Chicken.

Now I know that Jamaicans call it as they see it, but I have taken to completely ignoring anyone who calls me FATTY, yes it is true but that does not mean I want to hear it 20 times a day or when we go to market 10 times in an hour.

I do love the name that Baby B and Kat gave me, Dr. O and I also like Empress, that one makes me feel that I am one of many good, decent and special women that inhabit this wonderful place I now call home and yes I am still walking the walk and living the life of one who is Blessed.

You know Orbra, I was LIVID the first time I heard a grown man yell FATTY!! It felt like high school all over again and I was ready for a fight.
JD finally explained it to me. Now I just wave or say hello. My friends didn't understand why it upset me so much.

I've been called &quot;aunty&quot; by many Jamaican men and my husband calls me &quot;mummy&quot; or &quot;mum&quot; and it IS a term of respect!
