Nigril and Jamaicans in particular are used to seeing a lot! of white tourists that wear Dreadlocks .. not sure what it is exactly why .. but the Islands seems to attract dem lol

Funny you ask about White people with dreadlocks. I just drove past one about 5 minutes ago on my way home.

No she will have no problems but definitely it will attract the men. We have a White blonde one in my family with dreadlocks and she ALWAYS attracts men whenever she goes to Jamaica or to Jamaican stores or restaurants. The men she attracts aren't my cup of tea but she does attract them.

No need to be nervous. Go and have a SUPERB time.

Wow... Started a major controversy on my first thread.

Ok here goes. We actually booked the trip for the end of summer. And yes we will be getting married there, if everything falls into place.

And yes some of the stories were about how relentless some of the men will be towards her even when i'm with her.

I also have a friend with dreads who said people spit at his feet multiple times, called him names, and threatened him, when he was in jamaica. Although he was in kingston, and ocho rios it was 2006. He also comes off a bit metrosexual, so maybe that had something to do with it.

And some of you hit it on the head. We are nervous traveling to anywhere, not just jamaica. And we have always wanted to go there. It seems silly to be targeted because of a hairstyle, however in our country there are certain places you can't go wearing red or blue because you will be targeted because of that. That seems just as silly to me, but it is a reality that needs to be dealt with.

Also we do not want to disrespect anyones belief system.

She is a sensitive girl, and i think we should be prepared if there is a clear danger.

maybe caz dem tink himma style dread? but what kills me is that other people would be so concerned about what other people choose to live. even black people with dreads get dissed because &quot;dem annoh real rasta&quot;. some jamaican people make it their duty to dictate to even strangers about their mental or other state. i don't know where that comes from but it's ignorant at best.
