Natty, your mom is in our prayers here as well.

Betty is going today to see her surgeon and take some tests to see how her circulation is after the operation, fingers crossed here.
She is feeling much better after being taken off some of the heavy meds and looks better too.

I have been at the hospital pretty much since last monday.
My Mom is 70years old, has Diabetes in the worse way, and Monday she had her left leg amputated. She is still in the hospital and seems to be doing okay. Think she will be released either today or tomorrow.

Everytime I think of the amputation I want to throw up!

Thought I would never say this, but I am kinda of glad that she is has the dementia and alzeheimers because most of the time she is in her &quot;own&quot; world, and except for the pain she doesnt realize much what is going on.

Latest Update:

Well we went for the tests and follow up visit with the surgeon who done the operation an my Betty.
I wish I could post some good news but it didn't go well.

The legs portion of her bypass didn't seem to work to well and another operation looks likely in the fall.
The doctor wants her to heal up and then he will re-test her and make the the call then.
Her open wound is healing and she is feeling much better since being taken off some of the meds they had her on.

Our new plan includes a trip to Jamaica in late June ( of course), Jah willing, and we'll deal with the tests and operation at the end of July.

We are very disappointed and scared to say the least and worried about going through all of this again.
He won't have to open her chest this time we are told, just the legs again.
Sometimes things are just not fair but many have it far worse than us so we must give our thanks and move on.

Especially to encpurage the graft to hold.
and especially if ther is danger of infection setting in.

Oh Lord!! NDG, I am so sorry to hear about your mom. As if the alzheimers &amp; dementia were not enough to deal with. I totally understand what you mean about her not being aware.

This is one thing I know. I recently had to tell Angie this as her brother had a massive heart attack. The medical profession in AMerica has this heart thing down PAT. If there is one thing they know how to work with well, it is these issues. Dad will be just FINE...you hang in there.
