thanks. I am tryna plot my route and was confusing myself So pretty much circle the island and end in Ochi when i HAVE to see my family.

yep i think save your family for last because they may convince you not to leave and go and do anything else

if you go to negril first - it's easy to get back to mobay and then on to ochi etc

or if you want to do the island - go to negril, then head to TB stopping at Lover's Leap, Bath,Treasure Beach continue on through Mandeville, hit up St. Thomas, Kingston, Hellshire Beach

personally if i was alone - i would go to Negril and then back to Ochi and Port Antonio - not much action past Negril, Treasure Beach is nice but <span style="font-style: italic">really</span> laid back

if you want to hit up Kingston, there is a minibus that leaves from Sav-La-Mar (near Negril) but the Knutsford Express from Mobay is more luxurious

from Kingston you can take the north coast back to Port Antonio and end up in Ochi

Treasure Beach seems a bit too laid back even for me.

PLus I am not a lay on the beach kind of girl so if that is all there is I will be bored within a minute.

I think I like the idea of taking the bus to Kingston after Negril because I do want to hike thru the Blue Mountains. Then I can go onto Port Antonino, find stuff to do within that region and then slowly make my way back to Ochi. Anyhow I go to Ochi before the end them ppl called my family wont let me leave again

did you see the housing that ohliz mentions for the Blue Mountain hike? looks okay

port antonio looks pretty laid back too - but Bizi may be able to help you find some things to do there

pack as little as you can - wear things over again when you go to different parts of the island - or get someone to wash for you - with all the traveling - i don't think you want to lug multiple suitcases around with you - especially being on the bus - if you need something - you can shop there for it

I probably did but since I have looked at so many places they are starting to blur together

The linke ILP suggested has some info on what to do around the Port Antonio area like places to visit and explore. I am fine with doing that - as long as I have somewhere to walk around and take it I am good.

I dont party and such like I would have once upon a time I just want to see some interesting places different from what I have.

I was thinking about the clothes and such. Looking at the links even Mokko's, they suggest &quot;heavy&quot; clothing for being in the mountains and hiking thru bush. So I was thinking bout the best way to account for that. I dont know if what I would need for those areas I could get along the way

The next thing, I dont want to carry anything that I would cry over losing....I may have to meet up with one cousin and let him take some things back to Ochi for me...Need to think about that part.

Should be interesting how well I pull this off

You can try this, the people I stayed with in NY own 12 acres of coffee up in the Blue Mnts and this place is on the same land. I am told Jah B just finished building a block house there. Accommodations are there and the people are wonderful. I am told there is nothing like waking up in the Blue Mountains. Something I haven't done, but plan to soon.

as for the heavy clothing - do you have any of that lightweight thermal stuff - plus i would check on temperatures since it is going to be summer when you get there - it may be cool - but not as cool as say - december

Yup, that is one of the links I have marked as well Seveen.
I am gonna go thru my plans this weekend and make some decision

I'll have to buy some thermal pieces. Up here is great for that kind of stuff. I just didnt think it would be so readily available in JA in the places where I would need it. Kinda just wanted a good size backpack for that portion of the trip.

However, I dont think a backpack would be big enough to carry all the stuff I'd want to take with me and more importantly when I come back I get laddled down with so much food and fruits that my normal size suitcase is always ready to burst

you can get the suitcase for your return to canada in jamaica or just box up your goodies

and no i don't think you will find thermal in jamaica

magic did the blue mountain climb for sunrise - you may want to ask him what the temperature was like and what month was it

you know you are going to owe us a trip report

when Magix gets back from flying about the place I'll ask him. I do remember his trip report with his pretty friend when they climbed up the mountains.
