lawd that is dear still too.

I just had to pay one bill on a rental vehicle of 545.00 just for a little bumper work cause I refused insurance coverage. If I had taken it, I woould have a 500 premium to pay first, so 45 under insurance coverage would be useless to me.

So from there out I swore I would never do anything but full coverage

So, how dear is dear?

These are the insurance options for Island.
I used to use the credit card option, until I had a car stolen in London, and after the
hassle with the credit card company to claim back the money I had to pay, I don't
use that again.

I use the $12/day option when renting now.
Chances of anything happening to the vehicle in Jamaica are low.

<span style="font-family: 'Courier New'">NIL LIABILITY (WITH TPF) - US$27.00 PER DAY



The Hirer can fully eliminate his/her liability (including road wheels) from the full cost in case of damage/loss to the rented vehicle by purchasing the Damage to Vehicle Waiver (DVW) at US$25.00 plus Tyre Protection Fee (TPF) at US$2.00 per day for some cars and Jimny.

A nominal deposit will be required. This deposit will not be used to cover damage/loss, but will only be used if the vehicle is kept overdue and therefore leaving a balance due to us. This deposit is refundable and can be paid by cash, traveler’s cheques or a major credit card.

NIL LIABILITY (BASIC) - US$25.00 PER DAY



The Hirer can eliminate his/her liability (excluding road wheels) from the full cost in case of damage/loss to the rented vehicle by purchasing the Damage to Vehicle Waiver (DVW) at a daily cost of US$25.00 per day for some cars and Jimny.

A nominal deposit will be required. This deposit will be used to cover road wheel damage/loss. It will also be used if the vehicle is kept overdue and therefore leaving a balance due to us. This deposit is refundable and can be paid by cash, traveler’s cheques or a major credit card.

LIMITED LIABILITY - US$12.00 PER DAY



The hirer can limit liability for loss/damage to the rented vehicle from the full amount to a limited amount, which is:

*US$750.00 for cars (excluding Luxury Models) and Jimny and US$1,200.00 for buses, Luxury cars, Vitara and Grandis – by paying a daily Damage to Vehicle Waiver (DVW) of US$12.00, or US$15.00, respectively.

The liability amounts of US$750.00 or US$1,200.00 will be taken as deposit. These will be refunded if there is no loss or damage to the rented vehicle.

For USA issued cards only
Both MasterCard Gold/Platinum and Diners Club may offer full collision damage waiver cover. You may therefore decline to purchase Damage to Vehicle Waiver (DVW). Please check with your issuing bank to verify coverage in Jamaica before renting.

In the event of loss/damage to the rented vehicle you are liable to be billed directly for the full amount and upon making a claim to your credit card company, you will be reimbursed by them.

N.B. If this option is taken, credit card authorization for a deposit of US$500.00 will be secured at the beginning of the rental. This deposit will be applied to any loss/damage charges which may occur and will be refunded if there is no loss/damage to the rented vehicle. If the loss/damage exceeds this deposit, the additional amount will be billed to your card.

For Canadian issued cards only
Visa Gold, MasterCard Gold, American Express Gold and Diners Club may offer full collision damage waiver cover. You may therefore decline to purchase D.V.W. Please check with your issuing bank to verify coverage in Jamaica before renting.

In the event of loss/damage to the rented vehicle you are liable to be billed directly for the full amount and upon making a claim to your credit card company, you will be reimbursed by them.

Rest of the World
Cards issued outside of the USA or Canada, while acceptable for payment, will not be accepted for full insurance coverage. Clients may opt to purchase our Damage to Vehicle Waiver (see Auto Coverage section), or if they still wish to decline our DVW the following would apply:

1. In the event of a loss/damage, the client must pursue their own claim for compensation with their card company. Island will not be able to act on their behalf.

2. A security deposit equal to the full value of the vehicle will have to be taken and will be refunded at the end of the rental if there is no loss/damage. </span>

I got my *first* speeding ticket in years last summer

the policeman who pulled me over had one woman partner so she watched his every move

For me, I notice that female officers (and female people in positions of power) are more likely to be friendly to me and gi mi a bly than men. (This does not work at DMV, as all a dem out of order!)
