Idle Awhile info requested

Hi all,

We have been to Negril 4 times over the years and really like it there. First trip we did the Sandals thing and it was nice, but didn't like being kind of isolated from the town. Our next trip we stayed at Xanadu(?)for one night and got out of there as quickly as we could. Ended up at one of the Merril properties which was not bad, but a bit down scale from what we wanted. We did a week at Nirvana and did not get along with the manager who seemed to delight in adding small daily fees. Our last stop was at Charlae Inn and loved the location, but found the staff to be less then attentive. We are now considering Idle Awhile and was just curious if anyone can compare this property to the ones that we have allready stayed. I know that it sounds like we are reall picky, but we really are not, just wasnt a clean comfortable room, with internet, and nice beach with a bit of shade and access to a beach bar. My wife will sunbath topless if its not too crowded, and it was a real turnoff when she was asked to coverup at Nirvana. We were the only tow people on the beach that afternoon! lol

Idle Awhile is very nice...i think you'll love it. I've stayed there 3 or 4? times, never had a complaint. The rooms are chic and comfortable...the property small and lush. If i had plenty of cash, we'd return to Idle more. Just love those rooms and the outdoor verandahs are so comfy. Great location on the beach...nice staff...you can't go wrong. The BEST jerk chicken in Negril right across the street even.

If you stay please admire the grass mats there. Ted delivered 12 to them in May. I believe they were 3 ft X 4 ft ones. He said it was a beautiful place. I stayed in the car outside the gate so can't tell you much more.

Everytime I wanted to stay at Idle Awhile, they were fully booked. Even in the off-season! That tells you how popular the place is. Walking though the grounds I find the place very nice, with a nice vibe and the reception staff is very pleasant.

However, book early, as I've never been able to book a room on short notice!

You should know that topless sunbathing, although there is no law against it in Jamaica (as there is in other countries) is very much frown upon by the largely conservative Jamaican population. There are certain sections of the beach where it is tolerated, however. They include the beach in front of Mariposa, just a short walk South from Idle Awhile, and Our Past Time Villas a bit further up North.
