Yeah, I am going to spend the first part of the trip in Porty becuase I have never been there. I dont have any family (that I know of ) in the region.
Gonna check of Duncan's Bay as well so I'll ask JA Jewel for a spot to p/u a phone.

The second half of the trip will be in Ochi. There is where most of my dad's family still resides.

Seveen you didnt see where I said I am <span style="font-weight: bold">afraid </span> to drive into Monetgo Bay on the first day?

If I see a Digicel store on the route out then I'll stop. But I dont want to drive in the city AND look for a place.

MarieK would be posting a funeral notice if I tried to do that

I just checked and there are 2 stores in Falmouth. I can handle driving in Falmouth cause I have some sense of that town already

Nylah mi an Sangster nuh mix so coulnd't tell you. Years ago they had a likkle shop just outside but no phones for sale, just sim card, credit and dem ting deh. But that was before all the construction.

Falmouth is actually off your route now that the new Highway 3000 bypasses it. So probably the easiest thing to do is stop in Ochi to pick up a phone.

well I still will have my regular cell phone with me that has roaming on it. I'll have it for backup until I get a phone in JA. It is just at 3.49/min I dont want to use it too tough and get a local phone right away. I'll need it for phone contacts anyways until I load my new phone.

Thanks Magic. I'll cach up with JA Jewel later that day and either then or the following day take a trip to get a phone where ever it is convenient.

if you heading out of MoBay towards Ochi there is a Digicel dealer at the plaza jus as you turn into ironshore (Blue Diamond Plaza)...easy acess off the highway

as for your regular cell phone - i hope no one calls you - even off going into voicemail will incur a charge

forward your phone to voicemail then it does not use the cell tower in jamaica

will explain more if you want to know

The fact that you have all of this stuff straight in your head is amazing

I am feeling fine about the phone business now. I got my basis covered and is now easy to rectify.

The "Blue Diamond Mall" stop would probably be the easiest, since it's RIGHT off the hwy, out of Mobay.....I do know of one digicel shop in Falmouth though, if you don't make it to Blue Diamond.

You may want to pick up some snacks & drinks at the grocery there (Blue Diamond)....much better selection than in Duncans.

We have the long distance plan on one digicel phone here, so you can make calls if you need to.

After my $865 lesson in 2005, my phone has no clue where it is once I leave LAX, I take no chances, sim card is ajar, battery in phone and never turned on. Talk about a bought lesson.

Actually, I am pretty sure I remember where the mall is, so I will pop in there to get a phone and some supplies

Mokatee....all I can say is hush I am trying to avoid that kind of scenario I made a call from the plane once and that 1:29 call cost me $20.35

the Digicel kiosk at the airport is indeed gone, dang it. i checked last week. It was always my first stop too

nylah maybe i missed somethin in the thread here, but why not just have whoever picks you up from the airport stop at Digicel on the way out from the airport after picking you up? no worries about driving or locating it.....that's what we did.
